ONE PLAN
Forward, together.

The One Plan is a bold investment in the future of Saints JFX and the community it is proud to call home — creating safer, more connected and more functional spaces where students can learn, grow and thrive for generations to come.

What is the One Plan?

One Plan is Saints JFX’s long-term vision for vibrant parish life and exceptional Catholic education. At the St. Francis Xavier campus, that vision includes replacing aging and inefficient school space with a new addition connected to the existing elementary and middle school building, improving safety and circulation, creating better spaces for learning and play, preserving the chapel and enhancing the campus landscape.

What the One Plan Will Create

• Safer, more secure and more connected spaces for students and educators.
• Modern classrooms and flexible learning spaces designed for how students learn today.
• Improved campus circulation, including improved pickup and drop-off activity on school property.
• New and improved play areas for students.
• A preserved chapel and thoughtful reuse of materials that reflect the campus’s history.
• Welcoming landscaping, green space and public-facing campus edges.
• A campus equipped to serve current and future generations of students.

For Students

The current St. Francis Xavier campus includes aging spaces that no longer fully support the safety, accessibility and learning needs of today’s students. One Plan creates a more secure, efficient and inspiring environment — connecting school functions, supporting modern teaching and giving students more room to learn, gather and play.

For Our Community

Saints JFX has been an anchor for families in the Wilmette for generations. One Plan will strengthen this longstanding community institution while creating welcoming green space, improved campus edges and play areas that will also serve the broader community. By investing thoughtfully in the campus today, Saints JFX can remain a vibrant resource for students, families, neighbors and Wilmette in the future.

Our neighbors shared feedback.
We listened.

Since the first draft of the proposal was presented in March, Saints JFX and the project team have spent time listening to nearby neighbors and learning from their perspectives. We are grateful for the ideas and local knowledge they shared. That feedback helped us make meaningful changes and produce a stronger, more thoughtful proposal.

What Has Changed

• Preserved the chapel portion of the former convent building.
• Added public-facing landscaping, parkscape and community seating.
• Moved the building mass approximately 50 feet farther from eastern neighbors.
• Removed parking from the east side of the site and moved it away from adjoining homes.
• Removed the through-alley drive and added screening, landscaping and a fence or gate at the alley termination.
• Moved trash storage and collection activity away from nearby residences and improved the screening and enclosure of the storage areas.
• Reduced the average building height.
• Increased on-site pickup and drop-off capacity to reduce reliance on surrounding streets.
• Continued commitment to communication and transparency with the community
